Rotimi Akinosho popularly known as Rotimi, whose 2019 hit single, Love Riddim dominated the airwaves will be starring in Eddie Murphy's sequel Coming 2 America which will start streaming Saturday 6th March on Amazon Prime
The US-based Nigerian singer and actor will be playing the additional character of Idi Izzi, nephew to Imani(Venessa Bell Calloway) the betrothed wife that was rejected by Prince Hakeem (Eddie Murphy) in the original 1988 release, Coming To America. His father, General Izzi will be played by Wesley Snipes.
A Communications and Business graduate from the Northwestern University, Illinois, Rotimi kicked off his acting career in a TV series titled, Boss before making his silver screen debut in Black Nativity in 2013 and followed up with another appearance in the high grossing movie, Divergent in 2014. He secured another regular role in the successful TV series, Power.
For music, he released two mixtapes, opened for Jennifer Hudson and a host of other top R& B Rap artists before signing with 50cent's recorded label, G-Unit in 2016. In 2019 he released his Afrobeats R& B single Love Riddim.
Coming 2 America is an Amazon Original directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Dolemite is my Name) and will feature a chunk of the original cast playing the older version of their roles. And also a special appearance by Nigerian Afrobeats Sensation, Davido
