HERE LOVE LIES : Ace writer and director, Tope Oshin bounces back as 'Lead' in riveting drama on Netflix

With a very catchy opening scene that suggest a compelling drama about a Pastor's daughter becoming pregnant and thus bringing shame to the family including a heart attack to the father, and eventually getting disowned,  Here Love Lies, a movie, written, directed and starring Tope Oshin (Up North) appears   promising and would make you want to watch till end.

But as it settles into the full narrative "14 years after" with Amanda, now a Travel blogger and single mother  (Oshin) on a romantic date with conniving Jide (Etim Effiong), one might be disoriented to watch the 2hr 11 minute feature-length also starring Tim Shelburne, Omowunmi Dada and Angel Unigwe who plays Amanda's daughter, Nora.

But if one exercises patience and chooses the right mood, enduring the annoying character of best friend, Kemi (Dada), and trying to comprehend why Ms Oshin decided to take the lead role,   Here Love Lies set in Lagos and New York with brilliant performances by Omozele Gabriel alongside Sam Dede and Tina Mba in the opening scene may turn out not too disappointing.

  1. Not sure the review does enough justice to a really lovely film. For starters had no idea that the director was also the lead actor. Thought it was a brilliant performance alll round. The story line was super compelling with a totally unexpected twist at the end. A departure from the stereotypical Nollywood storylines and settings.

Super recommended would be a much fairer conclusion in my view
