Her remarkable journey began right after finishing high school in 2004 when she landed a role in The Maid, starring alongside Clem Ohameze and Eucharia Anunobi. That same year, she appeared alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Ramsey Nouah in Into Temptation. From 2005 onwards, Mercy's career skyrocketed, with standout performances in films like Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, and War In The Palace. Her versatility and skilful acting were recognised in 2009 when she won the AMAA’s Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Live To Remember. In 2013, she cemented her status as a leading actress by winning the AMVCA’s Best Actress award for her role in Tchidi Chikere’s hit comedy, Dumebi.
Mercy further showcased her talent and vision as a filmmaker with her production debut, The Legend of Inikpi, directed by Frank Rajah Arase. Released in 2020, the epic movie was a box office hit in Nigeria and Ghana, solidifying her status as a multifaceted powerhouse in the industry.
In 2022, she co-starred alongside Funke Akindele in Batte of Buka Street, a movie that became the 2nd highest-grossing movie for the year. In 2023, Johnson bagged two AMVCA nominations. One for her role as Awele in Battle on Buka Street and another for her role in a comedy movie Passport
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mercy Johnson is a shining example of balancing a successful career with a fulfilling personal life.
