Calling Ajosepo just a romantic comedy–drama honestly doesn’t do it justice. The film goes way deeper than that. The screenplay, brilliantly woven by Stephen Okonkwo (Obara ‘M, Ruthless), brings together the clash between Christianity and traditional beliefs, plus the tension between modern medicine and age-old customs. Reducing it to anything simple would be missing the point entirely.
And talking about the cast, if any review glosses over their performance, especially Timini Egbuson’s exceptional performance as Babajide, it’s definitely underrating the film. Timini handles the emotional conflict in that role so well that he practically carries the heart of the story.
