2 Weeks In Lagos, written, directed and produced by Kathryn Fasegha, didn’t do too poorly but could have done far, far better. A simple plot about a young investment banker, Ejikeme (Mawuli Gavnor), meets Lola (Beverly Naya) through her brother, Charlie. Being the son of a politician aspiring to become a running mate to a presidential candidate, there was needed to seal a bond. So, the marriage between Ejikeme and the presidential candidate’s daughter seems in order. Ejikeme’s mum (Ajoke Silva) is the whole brain behind the scheme. And she did go as far as setting up a kidnap to get Lola out of the picture.
A very interesting narrative and well shot but lacks all the necessary intrigues and suspense. The cast lineup, for me, was just way too much. Nice to Toyin Abraham (Alakada, Ghost tout) play something different from the usual typecast role, but that's a character the script could do away with. So is Tina Mba, and Jide Kosoko along with Deyemi the Actor. I was looking forward to the encounter between Shaffy Bello, who played Lola’s mum, and Ajoke Silva but didn’t get enough. I believe there’s more they can do together, perhaps with another script.
