I was never drawn to Architecture as a profession talk less of a career and when it comes to interior design, that one as far as am concerned it's just to logically arrange chairs and tables and make sure that the Microwave is well positioned away from the gas cooker in the kitchen ……… Ok, you can also hype it up with a fruit bowl.
But after watching Made by Design, a documentary showcasing a fine crop of Nigerians busy
changing the landscape of the country using Architecture and Interior Designs as a
function of history and culture as well
as using Interior designs to reflect individual personas, am not just drawn to
the profession but also getting to appreciate how it shapen the way we live
The 13 episode series
features both old and new generation professionals that includes Theo Lawson
the Mastermind Architect that transformed An abandoned prison space in Lagos into
a famous recreational museum-like facility known as The Freedom Park. It also includes a feature on Demi Samande,
The Lady Carpenter who specialises in Furniture Restoration and runs a
successful Manufacturing company.
Produced and directed by Titi Ogufere, it also features Seun
Oduwole, The Radical Architect who after being inspired by the story of a
notable businessman, JK Randle who built
a swimming pool in the Onikan area of Lagos in 1928, has recreated an edifice
that now serves as a functional history known as the John Randle Center.
