AMAZING GRACE - South Africa steams another bumper drama series on Netflix

If you’ve seen Savage Beauty and Unseen, then Amazing Grace is another South African drama miniseries that should be A-Must- See.

Starring Shalima Nkongi as Grace, this four-part series, created by NZB Majola and written by Ntando Mhlongo, offers a religiously themed narrative that tells the story of how a final-year undergraduate student, who witnessed the brutal murder of her mother by her father, who in turn killed himself, had to resolve to prostitution to fend for herself and her younger siblings and pay for her exams.

While surviving on the streets of Soweto, she meets Sipho (Sizwe Khumbuza), a pastor’s son, and they fall in love, but her secret reputation would get a lot, lot in the way.

Sipho is in a succession battle with an elder brother, Benjamin (Lizwe Khumbuza), to lead his father’s church, and Grace’s secret becomes a trump card for him to win. A very close Lawyer friend of Benjamin, Sizwe (Batsile Ramasodi) is also a main client of Grace, and as she decides to leave the oldest profession, gets a job as a domestic cleaner in his matrimonial home. Hell breaks loose with conflicts and twists, resulting in blackmail and rape. But at the end of it all, Grace emerges an Amazing woman who, like the biblical cornerstone, restores peace and happiness to the family and friends that forsook her.

Also starring Dieketseng Mnisi, Zethu Dlomo, Talitha Ndima and Jerry Mofokeng as Rev. Mohapi
