There's no better way to capture Biodun Stephen's moving drama, SISTA starring Kehinde Bankole, Deyemi Okanlawon and Bisola Aiyeola than to say Brilliant.
It’s a feature-length drama that ironically celebrates a single mother's struggles. Bankole did justice in playing the lead role of Vicky, aka Sista, who, at the young of 19, was ditched by her partner, Fola, and had to face the hardship of raising their two kids. She did this as a dignified house cleaner and won the loyalty and trust of many clients, especially Jemima aka Aunty J. (Tope Olowoniyan), who became her friend and a pseudo-agent.
Fast forward 20 years after, the Fola resurfaces, married with two kids, and now wants to play a significant role in the lives of Sista’s kids, Anu and Fola. Fascinately he has the support and understanding of lovely wife, Tiwatope (Aiyeola) who even after knowing of his past secrets, rather than typically reacting badly, became more sympathetic towards Sista.
Just like Wildflower, JOBA, and Strangers, Stephen’s skill as a screenwriter and director, together with a brilliant cast which includes Adeoluwa Akintobi, Chiamaka Uzorkwe, Chimezie Imo and Rukayat Adewale who plays the young couple Vicky and Fola, has once again given us heart-touching family drama.
