JAGUN JAGUN - Femi Adebayo’s new flick is guaranteed cinematic experience.

Suppose Jagun Jagun, the new Yoruba epic action movie starring Lateef Aladedimeji, Femi Adebayo and Bukunmi Oluwashina, is rated 10/10. It may almost be an exaggeration, but it is not too far from it. And to correct such puffery, when assessing the movie in terms of acting, directing, cinematography, and editing, a more realistic and modest rating would be a point or two less.

The two-hour-plus feature-length film directed by Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani, who also wrote the screenplay, is an exceptional work of cinematic art. It is no surprise but a logical projection for both directors, who collaborated in a similar box office hit, Agesinkole in 2022.

Set in the backdrop of the ancient Yoruba kingdom of southwest Nigeria, Jagun Jagun, also known as 'The Warrior', tells the story of a young man, Gbotija (Adedimeji), determined to become a warrior after witnessing the brutal killing of his father. He enlisted in an elite military army commanded by a famous sadistic and evil-minded warlord, Ogundiji. (Adebayo). As Gbotija's skills and determination flourish, so too does a tender romance with Iroyinogunkitan (Oluwashina), igniting jealousy, envy and a potential rivalry from the generalisimo, Ogundeji

Jagun Jagun is a story of determination, conflicts and romance against the backdrop of rich Yoruba culture employing a well-crafted screenplay and directing, seamless editing, appropriate props and costumes with proper attention to detail and brilliant acting, especially from Lateef Alademeji and Bunkunmi Oluwashina.

Also featuring Fathia Balogun, Ibrahim Yekini, Oga Bello, Bimbo Ademoye, Ibrahim Yekini Itele, Yinka Quadri, plus more, Femi Adebayo’s new flick is not just raising the bar in Nollywood but guaranteed to offer a rewarding cinematic experience on Netflix.
