SCREENNOLLY THROWBACK - Ti Oluwa Nile

Ti Oluwa Nile is a 1993 film by Kareem Adepoju, aka Baba Wande, who plays the lead role of Oloye Otun. He becomes entangled in a dubious transaction to sell a piece of land, unaware that the land holds sacred significance for deity worship.

As the story unfolds, the consequences of his action and other conspirators catch up with them, leading to the ultimate price of death. Oloye Otun is third in line to face this penalty but endeavours to avert the impending doom by preventing the burial of his co-conspirator, JP. The futile attempts to forestall this burial serve as the basis of the narrative skillfully directed by Tunde Kelani.

The three-part drama that boasts a stellar cast, including Dele Odule, Gold John, and notable appearances by Prince Jide Kosoko, Ayo Mogaji and Yemi Sodimu, among others, became a game changer in the then Home Video Industry (that later morphed into Nollywood) because of its high-quality production, brilliant use of cinematography and appropriate soundtracks.
