A STREAMING WEEKEND WITH DANIEL ETIM - EFFIONG

Daniel Etim Effiong is an individual who believes in doing things right. So when he decided to venture into the make-believe world, after a brief stint as an Engineer in the industrious Oil & Gas sector, he assigned himself back to the basics, charting an organic process that saw him first undergoing remedial courses in filmmaking, writing and directing before embarking on an entire graduate course in Filmmaking.

He probably didn’t need all that orientation after an Engineering degree, but his diverse background, upbringing, and education across different regions of Nigeria—from the north to the Midwest, Abuja, and Lagos has instilled in him the value of being well-grounded in his pursuits. Today, Etim Effiong is unquestionably an A-Lister with numerous lead roles and captivating supporting performances that make him a sought-after actor not just in Nollywood but across Africa

His remarkable career began as a Content producer for Ndani TV before he directed a short feature, Prey, in 2017. The year 2019 marked a turning point as he took on roles in prominent projects such as MakataMust Sell, Oloture, and the drama series "Castle & Castle. It was also an eventful year as he got carted away to Kenya to star in a romantic comedy, Plan B, which won the 2019 AWVCA’s East Africa’s Best movie

In subsequent years, Etim Effiong continued to showcase his versatility. In 2020, he directed the thought-provoking documentary SKIN by Beverly Naya and played roles in short features like Storm and Fishbone. The year 2021 saw him reuniting with the cast of "Castle & Castle," starring in the romantic movie "Still Falling" alongside Sharon Ooja, and playing a significant role in South Africa’s Happiness Ever After. The same year, he played the lead role of an aspiring musician, Mide, in Bolanle Austen Peters’ Collision Course. His stellar performance as an aspiring musician, Mide, did not just contribute to the movie’s win as AMVCA’s 2022 Best West Africa movie, but also landed him another captivating lead role in Walter Banger’s thrilling noir movie, Jolly Roger

In 2023, Daniel Etim Effiong collaborated with a brilliant cast, including Uche Montana, Stan Nze, and Ini Dima Okojie, to deliver a compelling and thrilling narrative in "A Weekend To Forget," written by Joy Bewaji. Throughout his career, Etim Effiong's performances have consistently demonstrated his commitment to “transporting audiences beyond their state of bleak realism to a place called happiness”.
