SCREENNOLLY THROWBACK - ISOKEN

Isoken is a 2017 romantic comedy starring Dakore Akande, Marc Rhys, and Joseph Benjamin. Written and directed by Jadesola Osiberu, the film follows the story of Isoken (Akande), a 34-year-old single woman facing mounting pressure from her family—particularly her mother, played by Tina Mba to get married. Isoken is introduced to Osaze (Benjamin), a successful young man, but she also finds herself drawn to Kevin (Rhys), a charming white man. This budding attraction creates complications, as his background poses a challenge within her traditional family.

Isoken was critically acclaimed, receiving seven African Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) nominations and winning three, including Best Director, Best West African Film, and Best Supporting Actress. At the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), it also earned seven nominations, winning Best Actress, Best Nigerian Film, and Achievement in Costume Design.

Also starring are Funke Akindele, Damilola Adegbite, Patrick Doyle and Lydia Forson, who won AMVCA’s Best Supporting Actress
