3 WORKING DAYS - A Thrilling Action Drama Derailed by Excessive Plot Twists

3 Working Days, starring Deyemi Okanlawon, starts on a promising note but ultimately falls short of delivering a compelling narrative about the harsh realities of banking inefficiencies. Directed by Jerry Ossai, the action thriller explores how a delayed online transaction leads to tragic consequences for an ordinary working-class man, Onari (Okanlawon), losing his wife in a shootout that also critically injures his son. He faces further despair when the same banking system cannot release the 3 million naira needed for his son’s urgent surgery, pushing him toward drastic measures.

Written by Abosi Ogba, The opening act was well-executed, establishing Onari as a devoted family man running an auto garage. The well-crafted plot builds up to a tense shootout that claims his wife’s life and leaves his son fighting for survival. This segment, which includes the hospital scenes, sets off a gripping emotional tone,

The momentum falters in the second act, particularly during the extended banking hall sequence. The storyline becomes increasingly complicated, confused, and convoluted, introducing excessive characters and chaotic action scenes. For instance, the decision to shoot the bank customers felt horrid and unnecessary; holding them hostage would have been more plausible and impactful.

Also starring Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Gbubemi Ejeye, Mike Folarin and featuring Linda Osifo and Femi Adebayo with a special appearance by Nollywood icons Mike Ezuronye and Victor Osuagwu, 3 Working Days had the potential for a thought-provoking and emotionally driven action thriller but lost its way due to an overloaded narrative.
