SEVEN DOORS - Femi Adebayo’s Drama Series Opens Bold Conversation on Love Leadership And Tradition

Femi Adebayo’s epic series Seven Doors is a compelling exploration of Yoruba traditional values, interwoven with a strong political message about leadership. It underscores the importance of leadership confronting challenges and correcting societal ills, rather than avoiding them.

Written, produced, and co-directed by Adebayo alongside Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo, Seven Doors tells the story of Prince Adedunjoye, a well-educated man happily married to Amaka (Chioma Chukwuka-Apota), an Igbo woman, with whom he has two children. His peaceful life is interrupted when he is called to ascend the throne as the Onilara, king of his ancestral town, Ilara, in Ondo State.

Upon becoming king, Adedunjoye is confronted with deep-rooted traditions and unresolved issues from the past, as well as ongoing corrupt practices that threaten the peace of his kingdom. It becomes his duty to address these lingering problems to restore order and stability.

One of the most challenging customs he faces is the expectation to take seven additional wives,a requirement that directly conflicts with his personal beliefs and commitment to monogamy. This forces him into a difficult choice between upholding love and submitting to tradition.

With a stellar cast featuring Kola Ajeyemi, Muyiwa Ademola, Gabriel Afolayan, Adebayo Salami, Yinka Quadri, and Wunmi Toriola, Seven Doors delivers a rich and thought-provoking cinematic experience while tackling sensitive themes such as love, tradition, and tribal identity with depth.
