Damson Idris to Star as Jazz Legend Miles Davis in Upcoming Biopic Miles & Juliette

Rising British-Nigerian actor Damson Idris has landed the iconic role of Miles Davis in the upcoming biographical romance film Miles & Juliette. Directed by Bill Pohlad (Love & Mercy) and produced by music legend Mick Jagger, the film will explore Davis’s passionate 1949 romance with French singer and actress Juliette Gréco, played by César Award-winning actress Anamaria Vartolomei.

This announcement comes on the heels of Idris’s breakout turn in F1, the 2025 summer blockbuster starring alongside Brad Pitt. Idris plays Joshua “Noah” Pearce, a rookie racer thrust into the ultra-competitive world of Formula One. The film not only showcased his physical dedication, with Idris performing real race sequences, but also cemented his place in Hollywood’s action-drama lane

Idris, who also appeared in the action-comedy Heads of State alongside Idris Elba and John Cena, streaming on Prime Video, will next star in the upcoming fantasy epic Children of Blood and Bone, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Based on Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling novel, the film will bring together a stellar cast of British-Nigerian talent, including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Tosin Cole, and Afrobeats star Ayra Starr in her film debut.

Set in post-war Paris, Miles & Juliette promises a deeply personal look at Davis beyond the music, tracing a relationship that unfolded during a transformative moment in both his life and jazz history. Idris’s casting as the legendary trumpeter signals a new chapter for the Snowfall star, positioning him as a leading man with both emotional range and global appeal.

From high-octane racing circuits to historical romance and musical genius, Idris, born and raised in Peckham, South London, to Yoruba Nigerian parents, is fast becoming one of the most versatile actors of his generation. With Miles & Juliette on the horizon, he isn’t just chasing stardom; he’s shaping legacy.
