Alakada is a 2009 classic comedy by Toyin Abraham. Abraham plays Yetunde Animashaun, a young undergraduate from a poor background who is deeply ashamed of her reality. Determined to "fake it till she makes it," Yetunde spins a web of lies,(fi enu ja eran s’obe) posing as a wealthy socialite to gain acceptance and validation.

Directed by Muyideen S. Ayinde and featuring a stellar cast that includes Fathia Balogun, Funsho Adeolu, Doris Simeon, Bisi Komolafe, and Racheal Oniga, Alakada struck a chord with audiences for its humour and gave rise to a full-fledged franchise, with four follow-up instalments: Alakada 2 (2013), Alakada Reloaded (2017), Fate of Alakada: The Party Planner (2020), and Alakada: Bad & Boujee (2024).

Each sequel continues the story of Yetunde, delving deeper into her world of deception, ambition, and the hilarious misadventures that come with trying to maintain a life built on lies
