SCREENNOLLY THROWBACK - Rose Of Love

Rose of Love (2007) is a romantic family drama directed by Ernest Obi and starring Ramsey Nouah, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, and Mike Ezuruonye — a classic Nollywood story that blends romance, class tension, and family drama, reflecting the emotional storytelling that defined the 2000s VCD era.

The film explores a love triangle shaped by privilege and social status. James Okechukwu ( Nouah) is a brilliant young man from a very poor background who earns a rare opportunity to study medicine at university through sponsorship. While there, he meets Mimi (Egbuson-Akande), a wealthy, silver-spoon student who captures his heart.

But Mimi is already involved with Charles (Ezuruonye), a spoiled and irresponsible rich kid who moves comfortably within the same elite circle as her. Despite James’ intelligence and his outstanding performance as a top A-grade medical student, his humble background makes him seem unworthy in the eyes of Mimi’s privileged world.

Still, James refuses to let class barriers define his chances. Determined to win Mimi’s love, he boldly pursues her. A move that sparks jealousy and rivalry with Charles. What begins as a romantic pursuit soon spirals into envy, resentment, and ultimately devastating consequences for James.

Also featuring veteran stars Olu Jacobs and Bukky Ajayi alongside Steph Nora and Ufuoma McDermott, Rose of Love streams @ NollywoodstarsTV on YouTube
