BAFTA 2026: Wunmi Mosaku Wins Second Award for Role in Sinners

It wasn’t just My Father’s Shadow making headlines at BAFTA 2026. British-Nigerian actress Wunmi Mosaku also celebrated a major win on the night, taking home the award for Best Supporting Actress for her gripping performance in Sinners.

The horror-thriller, written and directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, has been one of the most talked-about films of the season, with Mosaku’s performance as Annie standing out as one of its emotional anchors.

This marks her second BAFTA win. She first claimed the prestigious award in 2016 for her powerful role in the heartbreaking biopic Damilola, Our Loved Boy, a performance that firmly established her as one of Britain’s most compelling screen talents.

Ms Mosaku plays the spiritual and physical comforter, Annie, alongside Michael B Jordan in Sinners

Over the years, Mosaku has continued to build an impressive body of work across film and television. Many audiences will remember her as Ruby Baptiste in the critically acclaimed horror-drama series Lovecraft Country, as well as from the BBC crime drama Luther.

Born in Zaria, Nigeria, the British-Nigerian actress has earned recognition beyond the BAFTAs, including nominations and wins from the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the British Independent Film Awards in 2020.

With two BAFTA wins now to her name, Mosaku’s continued rise is yet another reminder of the global impact of Nigerian talent across the diaspora — and clearly, she’s just getting started.
