Alexx Ekubo reportedly passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, after a prolonged illness, leaving the Nigerian entertainment industry and fans across Africa in mourning. Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues and admirers who remembered him as a talented actor, humanitarian, and beloved friend.

Born on April 10, 1986, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigerian actor and model Alexx Ekubo became one of Nollywood’s most recognisable leading men, celebrated for his charisma, elegance, and versatility on screen. Rising to prominence after emerging as the first runner-up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest, Ekubo built a successful acting career spanning over a decade with appearances in romantic dramas, comedies, and blockbuster productions.

Throughout his career, Ekubo starred in several memorable Nollywood productions, including the romantic drama Weekend Getaway (2012), which helped establish him as a household name, the acclaimed cultural drama Áfàméfùnà: An Nwa Boi Story (2023), and the fan-favourite romance A Man for the Weekend (2017). His filmography also featured titles such as The Bling Lagosians, A Sunday Affair, The First Lady, and Omo Ghetto: The Saga.

Beyond acting, Alexx Ekubo was admired for his fashion influence, philanthropy, and advocacy for youth empowerment. In 2020, he was recognised among the “Most Influential People of African Descent Under 40” for his contributions to entertainment and social impact.
