Tribal Marking is describe as a Scarification of some parts of the body for permanent modification. Although it is fast becoming a dated tradition in Nigeria, it still as its significance and reasons.
These significances of tribal markings and how it intertwines with identity, beauty and culture has been brilliantly documented in a short film titled 'Marked'.
The 20 min feature documentary opens with 95 year old, Mohammed Saidu who has incised over 1,000 people and is just about to perform another incision to a baby boy. And from there on we get to meet various individuals with tribal marks, from different parts of Nigeria, tell their own story.
