I had mentioned speculatively in an earlier review about the KOB2, that after killing off the characters of Kemi and Kitan Salami, played by Adesua Etomi and Ademola Adedoyin respectively, the potential of a sequel may have also gone through the window.
For instance, Etomi was sensational as usual in playing her part and a sequel
would have paid off if the narrative was focused on her as a successor.
But that did not happen and I guess Kemi Adetiba, Creator, Producer and
director realized that and had to put in place something that would make up for
that rather poor oversight - a dramatic progression scheduling, aka installments
or series.
This seems increasingly the case, more so as Netflix has expressed an interest
in a working partnership with the lady who directed the 2016
highest-grossing box office flick, ‘Wedding Party 1’. That aptly might explain
the seven-part drama series titled ‘King of Boys – The Return of the King’.
A
brilliant initiative though as Adetiba, also featured alongside the existing
cast, top-notch stars like Ricard Mofe Damijo, Nse Etim Ikpe, Osas Ighodaro,
Deyemi Okanlawon, and Nollywood‘s latest hunk, Titi Kuti. Veteran musician and
entertainer, Charles Oputa, aka Charlie Boy, also had a special appearance in
the series as Streetwise Kingpin, Odudubrina.
Do I need to tell you where it’s steaming?
