As a Singer, she is known for the Evergreen songs Ekwe, Nia Bulu One Love and many more classics

As an Actress she is known for her brilliant role in Womens Cot alongside Joke Silva and Buky Ajayi. That earned her the  2006 AMAA Awards  for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.  She was also nominated in the  same year for  "Best Actress in a Leading Role in the movie "Rising Moon

As a journalist Ms Onwenu in 1984, wrote and presented a thought-provoking documentary titled Nigeria, A Squandering of Riches.
