A YOUNG TIME AGO - Lord Tanner adapts stage play Magic Time into captivating romantic drama

There might be mixed feelings about the opening scene of "A Young Time Ago," starring Daniel Etim Effiong, Mofeyintola Jebutu and Tolu Osaile (All na Vibes). At first glance, it appears to be a standard ‘Youtube bound’ Nollywood romantic drama, potentially filled with cliches and predictable outcomes that could make one conclude that "Nollywood tun de."

But, the feature-length, skillfully written and directed by Tolu (Lord Tanner) Awobiyi, surprises with a compelling flashback, which becomes the core of the narrative and delivers a captivating drama that tells the story of how an undergraduate, Tayo (Jebutu) falls madly in love with Kemi (Osaile) and went as far as initiating a revenge that gets out of hand when he learnt that Kemi was alleged to be raped by highflying happening guy, Magic played by Timini Egbuson.

Like a complete fool in love, Tayo takes full responsibility for something he didn't do, aiming to clear Kemi's name of all suspicions. However, it pays off when, after serving time, he ( Etim Effiong ) eventually reunites with the love of his life, Kemi (now played by Sophie Alakija), and they live happily ever after thanks to his guardian angel and boss, Mr Gabriel, specially played by Wale Ojo and with his 'Inspector Slo jo Obasanjo' hat.
