A graduate of English from the University of Calabar, Chikere's cinematic journey commenced as a screenwriter with the 1999 movie "Ijele," directed by Fred Amata and starring Genevieve Nnaji. However, it was with "Arusi Eye (The Deity of the River)" that he showcased his brilliance, crafting an entire screenplay in just one day—a testament to his creative prowess and efficiency. This early success laid the foundation for a remarkable journey in the industry.
In 2001, he wrote and directed "Fire Dancer," a pivotal moment that propelled him into the limelight. His musical background, nurtured during his university days, complemented his filmmaking skills as he contributed to the soundtracks of his movies. As an accomplished music producer, he seamlessly blended his talents to create a string of hit movies, solidifying his status as a creative force in Nollywood.
His craftsmanship was duly recognised with the 2008 African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Comedy with Stronger Than Pain. Furthermore, he earned a Best Screenplay nomination for "Beautiful Soul" at the same prestigious awards ceremony.
The 2012 production of Dumebi, starring Mercy Johnson, further showcased Chikere's storytelling finesse and earned him another Best Screenplay nomination at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards. The accolades continued to pour in with notable films like Blood Sisters, Light Will Come, World Apart, and All My Life, each contributing to the rich tapestry of Nollywood classics.
