SCREENNOLLY ReCall - Hidden Figures


Hidden Figures is a 2016 inspiring biopic about three female African-American mathematicians who made invaluable contributions to NASA during the intense Space Race era. 

Taraji P. Henson leads the cast with her portrayal of Katherine Johnson, whose groundbreaking calculations in Orbital Mechanics played a vital role in the success of America's first space missions. Octavia Spencer played Dorothy Vaughan, the determined supervisor at NASA's segregated West Area of the Langley Research Center, who taught herself the Fortran Programming Language. Her performance earned her an Oscar, Golden Globe nomination for Best Support Actress and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role. 

Janae Monáe delivered the role of Mary Jackson, the first black female to become an engineer 
The film also features noteworthy performances by Kirsten Dunst and Mahershala Ali in supporting roles and Kevin Costner as fictional NASA’s Space Task Group director, Ali Harrison.
