SCREENNOLLY THROWBACK - THE MIRROR BOY

The Mirror Boy is a 2011 film starring Genevieve Nnaji, Edward Kagutuzi and Osita Iheme. It revolves around a troubled 12-year-old boy named Tijan, who lives in London with his mother, Teema (Nnaji). Tijan's frequent misbehaviour at school results in street fights, prompting his mother to take him back to their native Gambia to reconnect with his roots.

Upon arriving in Gambia, Tijan's path crosses with a peculiar boy (Iheme) who mysteriously appears and disappears in a mirror. The next day, Tijan spots the same boy in a bustling street market, drawing him into a perplexing adventure. As his mother desperately searches for him, Tijan embarks on a profound spiritual journey guided by the elusive Mirror Boy, a character that only he seems to see. The narrative unfolds as Tijan navigates through a labyrinth of mysticism and self-discovery, challenging his perception of reality.

Written and directed by Obi Emelonye, The Mirror Boy earned three AMAA nominations but won three non-acting Awards at the 2012 Nollywood Awards.
