Tope Olowoniyan is a dynamic and talented actress whose captivating performances organically garner attention and position her as a sought-after figure in the industry.
Born and raised in Zaria, Kaduna State, by her grandparents, Tope completed her education at Ahmadu Bello University with a degree in English Language. She later travelled to the UK to hone her presentation skills. Despite her passion for TV presentations, she struggled to secure a steady job, even after an initial stint with Linda Ikeji TV and a full-time contract on TVC’s flagship breakfast program.
With a minor in theatre arts and some acting experience from her school days, Tope pivoted to acting. This decision paid off in 2015 when she landed her first role in Growing Old and a feature role in the famous TV show Everyday People. She also appeared in TINSEL, another well-known sitcom on Africa Magic. However, winning the KOBStayHomeChallenge to play Aisha Banjo in Kemi Adetiba’s critically acclaimed crime drama series Kings of Boys cemented her promising career and saw her starring in major supporting roles.
In 2021, Tope delivered a brilliant supporting performance alongside Zainab Balogun and Stan Nze in the romantic comedy Charge and Bail. Her outstanding performance as Jemima, alongside Kehinde Bankole in Biodun Stephen’s 2022 hit movie Sista, marked a significant progression in her career. That same year, she was also cast as a co-lead in the thriller drama Weather for Two. In 2023, she co-led alongside seasoned actor Mike Ezunronye in Ridicule.
Ms Olowoniyan has become a burgeoning presence as a supporting actress in Nollywood. Her linguistic prowess in Hausa and Yoruba languages adds a unique dimension to her versatility, making her an invaluable asset to the industry. As she continues to build her career, her dedication and talent promise to keep her in the spotlight for years.
