Despite her hardships, Udoka remains admired by many and especially by her best friend, Princess Adaora (Dominic), who, after being cajoled, began to envy the underlying love between Udoka and her boyfriend, Uzoma (Attah), a wealthy and compassionate medical doctor. Consumed by envy, Princess Adaora, along with her chief maid, orchestrates a plot to disgrace Udoka by framing her for theft.
But the scheme backfires with devastating consequences while Udoka much like the biblical Joseph rises from her trials to attain honour and even a royal recognition.
Directed by Andy Amenechi, the 2005 drama, which also features Camilla Mberekpe, Alex Usifo, Adaora Ukoh and Uchenna Nnanna, is a classic example of early 2000s Nollywood storytelling, blending romance with betrayal and climaxing in a predictable redemption that stretches over two DVDs.
