SCREENNOLLY THROWBACK - Ekaette Goes To School

A 2014 comedy starring Ini Edo alongside Bob Manuel Udokwu. Edo shines in the role of Selina, also known as Ekaette, as the illiterate wife of Onuwa (Udokwu). Unable to read or write in English, Selina’s life takes a dramatic turn after a humiliating moment when she could not sign for a parcel delivered to her husband. Determined to change her circumstances, she sets out to pursue a basic education.

Written by Emeka Nnakihe and directed by MacColins Chidede, the film is complemented by a fitting soundtrack that enhances its storytelling. Edo delivers a standout performance, nailing Selina’s Calabar accent and bringing both humour and authenticity to the role. While packed with laughter, the two-part movie also carries a powerful moral message: with determination, one can become anything they aspire to be.

Also starring Rachel Okonkwo and Dave Ogbeni
