Igbako Esan is a 2006 family drama written and produced by Iyabo Ojo, who also plays the lead role as Yetunde alongside Yomi Fash-Lanso, Lola Alao, Yomi Abiodun, and Dupe Jaiye.
The film tells the emotional story of Yetunde, a woman whose life seems tough right from childhood. She was born out of wedlock to a father already stuck in a childless marriage and a mother raising her alone. After losing her mother, Yetunde is pushed from one home to another until she eventually ends up living with her father and his wife. Unfortunately, that doesn’t bring much peace either, as she has to deal with a hostile stepmother and a very rough upbringing.
Her relationships with men are just as disappointing, especially her involvement with JayJay (Fash-Lanso), who turns out to have selfish and harmful intentions.
Directed by Lasun Ray, Igbako Esan is backed by an impressive supporting cast, including Fathia Balogun, Sunny Alli, Omo Banke, Funke Akindele, and Yinka Quadri
