No Rival, a 2002 drama starring Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Saidi Balogun alongside Tony Umez, and Sola Sobowale.
Directed by Wemimo Olu Paul, Omotola plays Funke, a successful single mother who seems to have everything going for her except love. In a moment of vulnerability, she falls for Charles (Balogun), a smooth-talking but deeply flawed man recently fired for fraud.
Blinded by emotion, Funke lets him into her life completely—giving him a place to stay and even trusting him with a major business investment. But as expected, Charles doesn’t change. His cheating ways and reckless behavior quickly resurface, setting off a chain of events that spirals into serious consequences.
No Rival, also known as Kosorogun, is particularly notable because it’s one of the rare films where Omotola fully embraces a Yoruba-speaking role —something she didn’t often do at the time, as she was more prominent in the English-speaking side of Nollywood. The only other film where she did something similar is Oyato, which interestingly also stars Saidi Balogun and Tony Umez, and is directed by the same filmmaker.
A classic cautionary tale about love, trust, and the dangers of ignoring red flags also stars Fathia Balogun, Shan George, Shade Omoniyi and Moji Olaiya
