THE DARLING MONTH OF MAY ON NETFLIX


The past four months have been a bit dry of African contents with exception of Man of God in April. May however seems hopeful with already two successful entries from South Africa and Nigeria that is Silverton Siege and Blood Sisters amassing a combined 32 million hours of viewership in the first two weeks. It's just the beginning of the darling month of May with three more documentary features and three more movies to look out for

Enlightening documentary about the dynamism of Nigeria's Yoruba culture as it extends beyond the border and is being practised in the US and some South American countries as well as the Caribbean


THE FATTENING ROOM – 19th


A documentary about Six young women from different parts of Africa transforms into full womanhood using an age-old Efik tradition in Calabar, Nigeria, with a modern twist.

 

AYINLA - 20th


A biopic based on the life and times of  Ayinla Omowra, a Nigerian musician who popularised the Apala music genre

 

DAZZLING MIRAGE - 25th


Nigerian movie depicting the  various challenges faced by persons living with sickle cell


AFROBEATS THE BACKSTORY - 27th


Interviews with artists, journalists and other stakeholders, this authoritative documentary feature shows how Afrobeats has risen to become Africa's biggest music genre.


KEDIBONE - 27th


South African movie about a township Sotho girl who chooses to live a disguised life on the Fastlane of Jo’burg.
