In "Ojo Ibi," written by Yemisi Jaiyesimi and directed by Yomi Ogunmola, Mama Adeniyi, played by Lanre Hassan, becomes too concerned about her children, Adeniyi (Ogogo) Adetutu (Oshodi Oke) and Ranti (Wright), who have not to be able to bore children of their own even though they are all married and engaged. She is cruel to her daughter-in-law, Adeniyi’s wife, Adunni (Ibidapo - Obe), and regularly scolds her daughters, Adetutu and Ranti. But Ranti, a hot-tempered person about to be married, wasn’t taking any of her mum’s tantrums. She confronts and accuses her of witchcraft and being responsible for their childlessness.
On the other hand, "Bad Mothers," directed by Lancelot Omasuen, follows a similar trajectory. Patience Ozorkwo plays Mama Ike, who is also concerned about her children, Ike (Aseroma), Oluchi (Okoye), and Nneka (Ochonogor), who have not been able to have children of their own despite being married. Like Mama Adeniyi, she too becomes harsh towards her daughter-in-law, Doris played (Chioma Chukwuka), and equally scolds her two daughters, Oluchi and Nneka. Like Ranti, Oluchi is the rebel here who confronts and accuses their mother of their childlessness by practising witchcraft.
As accusations of witchcraft fly, both films delve into the mystery surrounding their childlessness. With talented casts, including Sola Shobowale, Florence Onuma, and Benedict Johnson in "Bad Mothers," and Jide Kosoko, Yomi Fash Lanso, and Toyin Afolayan in "Ojo Ibi," these movies contribute a unique perspective to the shared storyline.
