Born and raised in the eastern part of Nigeria, Nwigwe never planned to become an actor, nor was he clear about what to do after completing a degree in Economics. The country’s high unemployment level couldn’t afford him comfortable options. So when the opportunity to try out a Print and Runway Model job came his way, he jumped at it and created a soft landing that enabled him to see his potential and passion for acting.
In 2005, while still catwalking, he tried out two roles in the movies Wheel of Change and Last Game. The following year, he was cast for two other top movies: Games Men Play and Amazing Grace. These minor roles left a lasting impression on Nwigwe’s natural ability to immerse himself into roles and accurately interpret characters. Jeta Amata, the director of Amazing Grace, landed another major movie deal, Black November, in 2012, and he included the cool, calm and collected Nwigwe in the ensemble of the top cast.
In 2015, he caught the eye of Ghanaian Filmmaker Juliet Asante, who cast him alongside Joyselyn Dumas in the movie Silver Rain. 2016 saw him starring in six movies, including When Love Happens, Dinner and highly acclaimed The Wedding Party. The Wedding party became very successful, and a sequel was released starring Eyinna as the lead.
His portrayal as Nonso in The Wedding Party 2 propelled him to household recognition, solidifying his status as a versatile actor He cemented this with a lifetime role in the biopic Badamosi, based on former Nigerian President Ibrahim Babangida.
