SUPER NOWA: Darasimi Nadi Leads and Shines in a New Coming-of-Age Drama on Prime Video

Nollywood appears to be stepping confidently into 2026, and Super Nowa, the latest offering from Nemsia Studios, is an early sign of that optimism. Directed by Sonia Irabor and led by a standout performance from Darasimi Nadi, the film delivers a heartfelt and thoughtful coming-of-age story.

Also written by Irabor, it follows 10-year-old Ehi-Nowa, a gifted child with an exceptional talent for spelling, navigating life in a financially strained middle-class household of five siblings. With a father battling unemployment (played by Bimbo Manuel) and a resilient mother holding the family together (Carol King), the film quietly explores themes of anxiety, pressure, and perseverance.

Hope emerges through the encouragement of a new teacher, Eki Idehen, played by Onyinye (Baby) and Nowa’s elder brother, Junior (Nonso Bassey) pushing her toward a high-stakes Spelling Bee competition with a ₦15 million cash prize. Supported by a strong ensemble cast the performances feel grounded, sincere, and emotionally resonant.

Irabor’s direction is confident and assured, with thoughtful cinematography, strong shot composition, and clean editing that elevate the story beyond familiar beats. Super Nowa reflects Nollywood’s growing strength in intimate, character-driven storytelling—where emotional honesty takes centre stage.

Super Nowa is a gentle reminder that small, human stories can still carry real emotional weight and cultural relevance.

If you’re drawn to thoughtful narratives with strong performances and heart, this is one Nollywood film worth adding to your watchlist this weekend.
